Hanging out on the San Diego beaches and hiking the hills, Jim and Greg, the founders of ECOXGEAR, wanted to listen to their music in outdoor environments, which led to the birth of The Original Waterproof Audio company. In 2007, we launched our first IP67 waterproof and rugged speaker, and since then, the ECOXGEAR team has introduced dozens of speakers with cutting-edge features for all of life's adventures.

We are solving the problem of adding ruggedness and waterproofing to incredibly loud, quality portable speakers for the great outdoors. Jim and Greg, who were friends working in a tech startup, were tired of the corporate grind. When Apple and Samsung launched smartphones, they saw an opportunity to lead the movement in how audio is listened to.

Founded in 2007, ECOXGEAR is the original waterproof speaker company, and we have been awarded over a dozen US patents, solidifying our position as the inventors of this category. Featuring a class-leading 100-watt dynamic Texas Instruments power amplifier that delivers massive audio, the DEFENDER's 2-way speaker system teams up a 6" by 9" full-range poly-carbon main driver with a 1.7" titanium tweeter for balanced quality performance acoustics. Users can personalize their ambiance with the Defender's customizable RGB LED lighting, adjusting the color, speed, and brightness to suit their mood.

The EcoCast function allows users to wirelessly connect up to 100 EcoCast-enabled ECOXGEAR and SoundExtreme powersports soundbars, marine radios, and tower speakers for an immersive audio experience. With up to 25+ hours of playtime on a single charge, the DEFENDER keeps the party going all day and night, or users can keep it plugged into an AC outlet for endless entertainment.

Bluetooth 5.1 wireless connectivity lets users pair their compatible devices for audio streaming up to 100 feet away, and the integrated microphone includes Siri and Google support, as well as speakerphone capability. The external microphone jack turns the Defender into a portable PA system or camp sing-along, making the user the life of the party.
